Amethyst Runic Sterling Silver Necklace Step Cut - Jewellery by Linda

Amethyst Runic Sterling Silver Necklace Step Cut

Luxury handmade solid sterling silver pendant embellished with rune symbols from the Viking Elder Futhark runic alphabet, and set with beautiful genuine amethyst gemstone.

The pendant is highly polished sterling silver with a regal purple pear shaped amethyst set in a beautiful crown shaped gallery setting, is suspended from a luxurious, smooth, snake chain with a secure lobster clasp. A unique addition to any jewellery collection.

  • The amethyst is faceted in what is called a step cut which, in this case, means that the facets are cut along the whole diagonal of the stone - top left to bottom right.

  • It's a very unusual cut and the facets catch the light as the pendant moves on the decolletage.

  • It's such a pleasure to offer you this gorgeous necklace which is unique in so many ways - one of my personal favourites.

Inspired by the Viking Elder Futhark runic alphabet, the 'shield' shaped design is embellished with stylised runic symbols, this necklace makes an eloquent gift. The symbols featured on this pendant are:

  • Tiw (Tiwaz) - believed to symbolise honour, leadership, justice, willingness to self-sacrifice
  • Eihwaz (Ihwaz) – believed to symbolise patience, perseverance, wisdom in adversity
  • This unique necklace is the perfect gift for someone you really admire for their life values or for someone who is having a hard time at the moment - perhaps caring for a loved one who is stretching their tolerance - and needs a little extra support

Amethyst is the birthstone for February and gets it’s name from the Ancient Greek word which means ‘not intoxicated’.  The ancient Greeks believed that it promotes sobriety.

Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia in the 1700’s, and the longest reigning female Russian leader, was an avid fan of Amethyst - so, if it's good enough for royalty .......
